Also, diabetic people or those who have undergone pelvic surgery to treat prostate, bladder, or testicular cancer are at higher risk of experiencing dry orgasm.

How is Dry Orgasm Diagnosed?

If you think you are experiencing dry orgasm, consult your doctor for a diagnosis. The doctor first asks about the symptoms, recent procedures, and medication use. They then perform a physical examination on the penis, rectum, and testicles. 

The doctor might also examine your urine after you have reached climax to see if it is clouded with semen. This will determine whether what you are going through is retrograde ejaculation or dry orgasm. Normally, this analysis is carried out at the doctor’s office. You will have to masturbate until you reach orgasm and collect your urine sample for testing. 

If a lot of sperm is found in the urine, you might be diagnosed with retrograde ejaculation. If there is no semen in your urine, you are likely to be diagnosed with dry orgasm. In addition, the doctor may carry out another test or can refer you to a specialist to determine the main cause. 

How is Dry Orgasm treated?

There is no one-way treatment for dry orgasm. Treatment depends on the cause. For instance, if the dry orgasm is caused by tamsulosin, also known as Flomax, the ejaculation ability will return to normal when you stop taking the medicines. On the contrary, if the dry orgasm is due to situational or psychological stress, counseling may help you through the situation and restore normal functioning. If the condition results from retrograde ejaculation, your doctor will prescribe medication to keep the neck muscle of the bladder closed when you reach climax. Such medication includes,

• Imipramine, also known as Tofranil
• Midodrine 
• Ephedrine or akovaz
• phenylephrine hydrochloride
• chlorpheniramine or chlor-tremetol 

Does Dry Orgasm Have an Effect on Fertility?

If the condition is not frequent, it might not cause a long-term effect on fertility or cause complications. The doctor should offer you sufficient information on specific diagnoses and also outlooks. Depending on the underlying cause, normal ejaculation may be restored naturally through vibrator therapy. It is believed that this increases stimulation and may help in encouraging normal sexual functioning. If you are concerned about fertility, the doctor might recommend electroejaculation to obtain semen samples for artificial insemination. The sperm can also be extracted directly from the testicles.
